Booked an Asiana flight departing on or after December 17?
Expect a message in November. As Asiana bookings move over to Korean Air, flight numbers change from OZ to KE.

A lot of people have year-end trips booked, so here is what changes and what to check.

Transfer schedule

From Korean Air’s September 14 announcement (in Korean):

Item Details
Affected bookings Existing Asiana bookings and tickets departing December 17 or later
Transfer window November 2 – December 3, in stages
What changes Asiana (OZ) flight numbers become Korean Air (KE) numbers
How you are told Kakao message, text or email, individually
General info Integration FAQ on Korean Air’s website and app

One thing that is easy to misread:
November 2 – December 3 is when the bookings are moved, not when you fly.
Getting a message in November does not mean your trip has moved to November.

If your round trip straddles December 17, check the outbound and return separately.
Even on one booking, each leg may be handled by its own departure date.

Before the notice arrives

Make sure the phone number and email on your booking are ones you still use. That is where the notice goes.
If you booked through a travel agent, ask whether the notice comes to you or to them.

Screenshot your current e-ticket and payment record too.
It makes comparing the new booking much easier: dates, routes and seats in one place.
If family members are on separate bookings, keep one for each.

After the notice arrives

Put the new booking next to the old one and check these.
This is not a list of things the airline will change, just what to look for.

Check What to compare
Flights Flight number, date and time, departure and arrival airports
Passengers Names in English for everyone, each leg booked
Connections No missing legs, no changed times
Seats and extras Seat selection, extra baggage, special meals
Your plans Arrival times you gave to hotels or pickups

Before you fly, open the booking again and save the latest e-ticket.
An old screenshot can hide a change.
If a time or airport changed, let your hotel or pickup know.

Seats and baggage

The announcement does not say how seat selections, prepaid baggage or special meals carry over.
So it is too early to say whether they move automatically or need paying for again.

If you paid for extras, check the receipts against the new booking.
If something is missing or different, contact the airline or your booking agent before paying twice.
Having the old booking reference, travel date and the missing item ready speeds things up.

Also worth knowing: a flight-number change does not by itself mean free changes or refunds. Your ticket’s own rules still apply.
